Dan For Benicia
Dan Smith with his family

Dan Smith

Diana and I have lived and raised our children here for 24 years. I’ve served on the City Council, Economic Development Board, Parks and Recreation Commission, Child Abuse Prevention Council and numerous committees. I was leader in creating the City Park playground, the Community Park skatepark/hockey rink, and the 10,000-acre Tri-City Open Space.

The top priorities of my community work have always been providing for our children and protecting our environment. I am also determined to make Benicia the most self-sufficient city it can be. That means a wider range of jobs for workers and services for residents.

To achieve those goals, I will: make sure the Army cleans up its hazardous waste in the historic Arsenal and protect the businesses there; achieve a safe, modern Seeno project that won’t destroy downtown and that creates jobs for Benicians; preserve Benicia’s small town atmosphere; work to fill vacancies in downtown storefronts and the Industrial Park; lead the City to increased collaboration with schools; and begin saving to build a new performing arts center.

I will champion open, accessible government and will not accept campaign contributions from large corporations.
